- 1/3 cup apple cider
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon apple pie spice
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 egg (large)
- 3 T butter (for topping)
- 1/3 cup brown sugar (for topping)
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar (for topping)
- 1 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (for topping)
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Melt 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter in a small saucepan over low heat, then stir in 1/3 cup of apple cider and set aside to cool.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1/4 teaspoon apple pie spice.
- In another bowl, combine the cooled butter-cider mixture with 1/4 cup granulated sugar and 1 large egg; whisk until smooth.
- Gently fold the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
- Fill a donut pan about two-thirds full with batter and bake for approximately 7 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Allow to cool slightly before coating in melted butter and a sugar-cinnamon topping.
